5/6/2023 0 Comments Crackdown 3 dlc![]() Totally agree with your review of Tetris 99, it’s a fantastic way to play the game and shows that battle royale doesn’t need to be a shooter. It should just be about the money, it’s about reputation and goodwill as well. They got that for Bayonetta and they’ll get just as much for Scalebound I think. What I also like about Nintendo is they’re not scared to publish a game even though it doesn’t make much money, as long as it brings them some kudos points. Like, why did they buy the people that made We Happy Few and not Cuphead? They need to be able to spot talent and games better. I don’t know who’s in charge of that exactly but while being obsessed with Halo and Gears Of War is understandable a lot of their other stuff is C-tier at best and you’ve got to wonder why they ever got involved with it in the first place. People have been dogpiling on Microsoft a bit lately but I think one of their problems, that doesn’t get mentioned much, is they seem pretty poor at picking and choosing which games to back. Especially if it turns out really good and Microsoft ended up backing Crackdown 3 instead. If Nintendo did bring back Scalebound, which is looking increasingly likely, that really would be something. ![]() Although I suppose the real question is how well it sells… I think it’s going to be seen as a decent but unoriginal shooter and there are worse things than that. So I wouldn’t get carried away with it being a massive disaster or anything, it’s not Crackdown 3. I wouldn’t say I was desperate to spend £45 on it, but I certainly wouldn’t have minded another 10 hours or so. The enemy designs are a bit bland and the artificial intelligence isn’t very good but I’ve still had quite a bit of fun with it. I was playing this on an ordinary Xbox One as well, and I thought the graphics were very good. The flying works really well and the special abilities are all interesting and fun. GC’s review in progress pretty much nails everything in terms of the confusing story and boring loot but I think I liked the character more than them (perhaps because the facial animation is so good) and the action is great. So I signed up for the EA Access 10-hour demo on Xbox One and… I think it’s okay. Horror because I’m a big fan of BioWare’s games and I fear what EA are going to do to them if this is a flop. I’ve been watching the trainwreck that has been Anthem’s so-called marketing campaign with an increasing sense of horror.
